Does Metformin cause constipation? Since having my dose increased from 1000mg to 1500mg this week, I have become constipated. Is this there a link?

If you blood sugar has gone up after stopping it, this could cause constipation as fluids may have changed. Metformin can cause constipation and/or diarrhoea in some people. It does normally get better as you get used to metformin, for some it does not settle down as you are on the slow release version it should be kinder on your system.
