Understanding the Context
It is based upon the tactics of ambush and hit and run with the ability to thrive in a protective and hostile population when the numbers of one side are not sufficient to meet an enemy in the field in conventional set piece battles. Guerrilla warfare (also spelled guerilla) is a method of combat by which a smaller group of combatants attempts to use its mobility to defeat a larger, and consequently less mobile, army.
